The story of this cute family of two began when little Alba, who was only 13 days old at the time, was rejected by 20 adoptive families.
The decision made by all these people not to kiss the special little girl brought good luck to 41-year-old Italian Luca Trapanese.
When he filled out the adoption papers, Luca didn’t really believe that social services would allow him to become Alba’s legal father, because in the country he comes from, it’s not common for a single gay man gets custody.
But, since not all of these families wanted to adopt a child with Down syndrome and Luca was more than happy to have such a child in his life, he took Alba in and became her legal father.
The moment he welcomed sweet Alba into his life, he became the happiest person on Earth. Speaking about his daughter and her case, he said it was very special as it “destroys stereotypes about fatherhood, religion and family”.
The journey of this father and daughter began
born in 2017 and they have been stealing the hearts of many ever since.
Luka has a heart of gold. He has been part of many social service programs over the years and has volunteered with various organizations that help people with special needs find their place in society. Among other things, he was part of the “A Ruota Libera” foundation, which helped children with Down syndrome.
This is one of the reasons Luca wanted to adopt a child with Down syndrome when he didn’t have a partner.
Finalizing the adoption was a difficult process because adoption agencies prefer “traditional” families to unconventional families.
“For me, a child with a disability is not a second-best solution, but a conscious choice in relation to my vocation and my abilities,” Luca said.
Alba is a happy child with a dynamic personality. She enjoys being around people and likes to play and dance.
