After posting just a small snippet of a performance, a mother saw such a surge of pride from everyone who watched it that she decided to post the full video, and we’re so glad she did it. With only six sessions to learn and practice, this duo showed up ready to perform for this recital.
With a crowd cheering and waiting for you, I’m sure 10-year-old Maeve and her 72-year-old grandfather were nervous, but we couldn’t tell by their calm, collected demeanor.
As the crowd cheered, the announcer called out their names and then let us know why we saw no fear in the eyes of this duo. We discovered that young Maeve was a fifth generation performing artist. Performance runs in the blood of this talented family.
As the announcer continued, Maeve and her grandfather walked out hand in hand with the biggest smiles on their faces as they were about to show the crowd what they were made of. As they fell into place and the announcer started the music, you could feel the crowd’s anticipation building, then the bass hit and let’s go!
Tapping on the song “When I’m Gone” by Anna Kendrick, most of us would recognize the Pitch Perfect movie and various television commercials. Now these two have picked up the beat and added something we didn’t realize the song needed, and it’s tap! The sound of their tap shoes adds a delightful melody to the song, and everyone in the crowd was impressed.
The duo not only shared parts of the performance, but also had several solo parts to show off their tap dancing skills. With the entire crowd captivated, the pair ended the tapping session with an unexpected bang. As the song slowed down, the duo did the same until they hit the audience with an unexpected grand finale for everyone involved.
A cartwheel of Maeve and her grandfather landed in a striking pose. Standing back to back as the crowd went wild for the couple, you can see the happiness in Maeve’s eyes for captivating the audience. In his grandfathers eyes, you can see the joy he felt in making his grandchild so happy.
Maeve’s mother, who originally posted the clip to her personal Instagram, knew she had to post the full video to YouTube after seeing how much everyone loved her, and she had no idea she would reach so many people.
